Plan a Balkan journey with separate checks for transit insurance, vehicle documents and entry into Türkiye.
Choose the transit sequence
Start with your departure point in Albania and your destination in Türkiye, then record every country between them. Compare the complete drive and any overnight stops before settling on a crossing. A change of route can change the insurance documents and road charges you need.
Check cover for every country
Ask your current motor insurer which countries are covered and what proof you must carry. Do not assume that a policy valid in one Balkan country automatically covers another. Keep the registration country, driver residency and route separate when asking for advice; they can affect different parts of the journey.
Prepare for Turkish entry
Check the Ministry of Trade vehicle guidance and arrange cover valid in Türkiye where your existing policy is insufficient. Have your registration and passport ready for a quotation. Ask separately about roadside support, especially if you drive a minibus, commercial vehicle or motorhome. Confirm the approved vehicle category and policy dates before purchase.
