Australia to Türkiye: vehicle planning
Prepare for vehicle shipping, Turkish customs checks and insurance for an Australian-registered vehicle.

Plan arrival and collection first
Confirm the shipping destination and collection process with the carrier before fixing your first driving day. Build in time for customs and document checks. Keep shipping cover separate from road insurance, and ask what evidence is needed before the vehicle can be collected or driven.
Check the procedure and licence
Read Australian official travel advice alongside Turkish customs guidance. Confirm which vehicle-import procedure applies to your arrival method; accompanied travel and an unaccompanied shipment are not interchangeable. Check licence and translation requirements against the length and circumstances of your stay rather than assuming the shipping documents are sufficient.
Include overland plans in the enquiry
Tell the insurance team whether the vehicle is a motorcycle, passenger car, camper or other special-purpose vehicle. Include the registration country and all intended onward countries. Turkish cover should not be treated as European frontier cover. Ask for confirmation of territory, dates and assistance eligibility before committing to an overland route.
