America to Türkiye: bringing a vehicle

Separate vehicle shipping, customs eligibility and road insurance when planning a journey from the Americas.

01

Shipping and driving are separate plans

For a vehicle arriving from the Americas, start with the carrier and customs process before booking a road itinerary. Ask the carrier which port, collection process and documents apply to your shipment. Shipping insurance and insurance for driving in Türkiye cover different stages; do not assume one replaces the other.

02

Confirm the import procedure

The Ministry of Trade accompanied-vehicle guidance is a useful starting point, but an unaccompanied shipment needs confirmation of the applicable customs procedure. Discuss your residency, vehicle ownership, arrival method and collection arrangements with the responsible customs office or qualified representative before shipment.

03

Arrange the road stage

Once the vehicle details and release arrangements are known, request an individual Turkish insurance review. Provide the registration country, vehicle class, intended use and proposed road-use dates. If your trip continues into Europe, check the exact onward territory and available insurance for your registration before leaving Türkiye.
